A sidewalk will soon be constructed along the west side of Morningside Drive from Huntsville Road to Fifteenth Street.

After a brief delay due to the heavy snow Fayetteville recently received, a sidewalk construction project along Morningside Drive will begin at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16.

The city project will construct a sidewalk along the west side of Morningside Drive from Huntsville Road to Fifteenth Street. Improvements will consist of installing new sidewalk, storm drainage pipe, inlet boxes and curbing along the west side of the street.

Work hours are scheduled to be from 7 a.m. until about 3:30 p.m. each day until the project is completed in April.

Construction will require closing the street to through traffic during the work hours. The street will be open to regular traffic at night. Residents will be allowed access as needed.

Detour routes will be marked and will utilize Fifteenth Street, Curtis Avenue, Huntsville Road to the east and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., South College Ave., and Fifteenth St. to the west.

For more information, contact Keith Shreve or Ricky Vaughan or call the City of Fayetteville Transportation Division office at 575-8228. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
