Chances are, if you were at last Saturday’s Lucero show at George’s, you had your heart set on seeing one band and one band alone: Lucero.
Judging by the reception the crowd gave the opening band, however, there were a lot of pleasantly surprised Lucero fans in the house that night.
Why? Because the spiced up, slow-cooker sound Colour Revolt brought was the perfect appetizer for the Southern-fried, romance rock Ben Nichols and Lucero have been serving up for 13 years is these parts.
Don’t get me wrong, though. One man’s appetizer is another man’s entrée.
As they head toward South by Southwest, Colour Revolt will make another stop in Fayetteville March 12, this time at Rogue Pizza Co. as headliners with fellow Southern indie band Young Buffalo leading the way.
