Call for student written plays – 2011 Arkansas New Play Fest

TheatreSquared welcomes submissions from Junior High and High School students to be considered for participation in this year’s festival.

Five original plays by Arkansas students will be selected to be showcased at TheatreSquared’s 2011 Arkansas New Play Fest to be held May 19-22 at Walton Arts Center’s Nadine Baum Studios in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

The theme of this year’s student plays will be “The Truth in my Town”.

Student plays will explore truth-telling about their community. They are encouraged to explore stories that have been neglected or hidden, either by accident or on purpose. We’re interested to see which stories the young writers feel should be known but for whatever reason have not yet been told.

From the submissions, five student playwrights will be selected to receive individual mentoring from professional playwrights, rehearsals with a professional director and actors, and a staged public reading on May 22nd at 1pm at Walton Arts Center’s Nadine Baum Studios.
