There have been several benefits here in town recently for the folks in Joplin, but there is a good reason for that.
The small city, just over 86 miles north of Fayetteville, is still feeling the effects of the category F-5 tornado that struck on May 22.
Local promoters Jason Bigbee and Garret Jones have organized a benefit to help out five Joplin families and five bands whose homes were destroyed. The event is set for Saturday, June 18 at Grub’s on Dickson, Jose’s, and Smoke & Barrel Tavern.
Music will begin at noon on Saturday at Grub’s, and performances are planned into the evening at all three participating venues. The event is free to attend, and donations will be accepted to benefit Time to Rebuild, a new foundation established by Bigbee to help a total of ten specific families in Joplin with the rebuilding process.
