Arkansas backup quarterback Brandon Mitchell will soon be a hoops Hog.

It’s been reported that the 6-foot-4, 230-pound junior was on the bench during Saturday’s win over LSU, but that he wasn’t in uniform.

Head coach Mike Anderson said he’ll evaluate Mitchell’s performance today before deciding whether he’ll travel to Lexington for Tuesday’s road game against No. 2 Kentucky.

“That’ll probably be a decision I make once we get through with practice,” said Anderson during Monday’s press conference. “He’s very athletic and he’s one of those guys who really wants to do it bad. We’ll see what he can bring to the table.”

Being in a basketball uniform is nothing new for Mitchell, who was offered a hoops scholarship from LSU before committing to the Arkansas football team. Mitchell had a 42-inch vertical leap in high school and averaged 25 points and 8 rebounds per game.

He even played 34 minutes of basketball as a Razorback in four 2009-10 conference games averaging 1.3 points and 1.3 rebounds.
