A large crowd gathered at about 11 a.m. Monday morning in the Walton Arts Center parking lot for the 2012 MLK Day March. Here are a few photos.

Fayetteville was named a 2011 Volunteer Community of the year for the third consecutive time during an awards luncheon hosted by the Arkansas Municipal League last week.

Tim Helder says he’ll once again run for Washington County sheriff in the 2012 election. If re-elected, it will be his fifth term.

After a successful 2010 debut and exponential expansion last year, the Fayetteville Roots Festival will be back for a third time in 2012.

University of Arkansas classes resume today which usually means longer calendar lists are on the way.

Besides live music with Candy Lee and the Sweets at the Lightbulb Club and a Women of the World poetry slam at Rogue, residents will get a chance to meet Steven Thomas, the second of two final candidates vying for the Fayetteville Public Library’s open executive director position at 6 p.m. in the library’s Walker Community Room.
