News Briefs
A crew works on the exterior of the old Circuit City building on Joyce Boulevard Tuesday. We’re told the site will soon be home to a Mattress Firm superstore.

Mattress Firm, a retail chain with over 700 stores in 23 states, is currently renovating the old Circuit City site at 744 E. Joyce Blvd. The nearly 21,000-square-foot building has been vacant since November 2008.
Sarah and Christopher Varga, owners of Fayetteville bars Ryleigh’s and Sideways, plan to open a new bar in the space formerly home to Flying Possum Leather on Dickson Street.
Jose’s Mexican Restaurant has been closed since Jan. 10, but it looks like the long-time Fayetteville restaurant will be back soon, and under new ownership.

Chicken George (Dubspot)
Austin-based DJ Chicken George is in town for the next couple days for a series of shows. First up is a 10 p.m. performance at Smoke & Barrel Tavern tonight, then it’s on to Lit Lounge tomorrow night for a show with The Sample Platters. Can’t make it out? KXUA 88.3FM will host a guest mix by Chicken George from 8 to 10 p.m. tomorrow night.
