Lowell Police Chief Joe Landers died Friday morning in a Florida hospital, according to several reports.
The official announcement came at a 10 a.m. news conference with Lowell Mayor Eldon Long inside the Lowell City Council Chambers.
Landers was injured last Friday in a motorcycle accident in Panama City, Fla., where he was attending a motorcycle rally.
