Update: Congrats to Justin and Cassy for winning the drawing for the tickets. Thanks to everyone who entered!
New York City rockers Vampire Weekend are coming to town next week.
The band is set to perform at the Arkansas Music Pavilion on Wednesday, Sept. 25 with songwriter Sky Ferreira.
For those who aren’t familiar, Vampire Weekend burst onto the scene in 2007, when their song Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa was ranked 67th on Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 Best Songs of the Year. In 2008, the band was named The Year’s Best New Band by Spin magazine just after the release of their self-titled debut album. Since then, they’ve released two records, 2010’s Contra and their 2013 release Modern Vampires of the City. All three records have been widely regarded by critics, with Modern Vampires of the City receiving a 9.3 rating from Pitchfork earlier this year.
It’s one of the last shows of the season, and one of the final concerts in Fayetteville before the venue moves to a new, permanent facility in Rogers next summer.
Also, we happen to have two pairs of tickets to give away to the show. Try to win ’em.
How to enter
As far as we know, Vampire Weekend band members are not real vampires, but a vampire is a solid Halloween costume choice, and since Halloween is coming up in about a month, it’s time to start getting a costume together. Leave a comment telling us the best Halloween costume you’ve ever seen, and you’re entered.
