The Fayetteville Animal Shelter will offer $10 adoptions on Saturday, Dec. 10 as part of a holiday celebration that will include a visit from Santa Claus.

Santa will pose for photos with pets, children and adults from 10 a.m. to noon.

The special $10 adoption fee includes all available cats and dogs, and lasts from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“This is a busy time of year and we want to encourage people who are thinking about adopting a pet for the holidays to do so now – when there is a little more time to commit for training and bonding with a new pet,” said Justine Lentz, the city’s animal services superintendent.

For more information about the adoption process and to view adoptable pets, visit The shelter is located at 1640 S. Armstrong Ave., and is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
