Fayetteville Public Library patrons last month donated over 400 pounds of pet food towards local families in need for the holidays.

The food was donated to Ranger’s Pantry, the city’s pet food bank, according to a news release.

The program, led by the city’s Community Resources Division, provides food to families who are struggling to feed their pets in an effort to help keep animals at their homes instead of being turned over to the animal shelter in times of need. The program benefits applicants who are Fayetteville residents and meet HUD’s income guidelines.

Ranger’s Pantry is a 100 percent donation-based program that has helped feed nearly 4,000 pets through more than 132,000 pounds of donated food since 2010.
