Local dance party band Ultra Suede is back in action for happy hour at George’s on Friday night, in case anyone has anything they need to shake off today. The show starts at 6 p.m. Later on at around 9 p.m., Opal Algafia, Ponder the Albatross and Mountain Sprout will perform.
If you feel like laughing, there’s a comedy show at Nomad’s Music Lounge. Comedians include touring act Meghan Welcy (Wichita, Kansas) and locals Colin Nelson, Chad Chamberlain, Caroline Ezell and Zac Slusher.

Rhett Miller
Local storytelling troupe That’s What She Said will debut a new show entitled Stranger in a Strange Land with multiple performances scheduled this weekend. The first one is set for 6:30 p.m. at Stage 18, the new venue just off the Fayetteville square on Center Street.
Music-wise, Old 97s frontman Rhett Miller will perform at George’s Majestic Lounge with Turnpike Troubadours singer Evan Felker. Locals Nature & Madness are also on the bill.
Smoke & Barrel has country/punk roots band Adrian + Meredith on Saturday night, and there’s a three band bill at Backspace with Drawing Blanks, Landrest and The Phlegms.
