Local legends The Cate Brothers will be kicking off the weekend with a Happy Hour performance on Friday night at George’s Majestic Lounge. Tickets will be available at the door. It’s probably not a bad idea to get there early if you can.
TheatreSquared has a new shop opening this weekend at Nadine Baum Studios. It’s called The Champion, and is a world premiere by Amy Evans that tells the story of Nina Simone and her band in a snowstorm in a greasy spoon somewhere in North Carolina, waiting for the trains to start running. Performances are scheduled through the weekend. Here’s ticket info.
Former Water Liars frontman Justin Peter Kinkel-Schuster will play a solo show Friday night at Stage 18. Zach Holland of the Good Fear has a new solo project called Thunder Comfort, and he’ll open the show. Here’s an interview we published with Kinkel-Schuster earlier this week.
