The folks behind the rock climbing facility originally planned in Fayetteville have changed gears, and now plan to locate the business in Bentonville.
Local resident Dennis Nelms has partnered with Drew Sloss and Lance Brock from Tennessee’s Climb Nashville to open a 22,000-square-foot facility called Climb Bentonville at Highway 102 and SW I Street in Bentonville.
Plans for the facility call for 16,000 square feet of climbing terrain, with walls as tall as 45 feet. It will also include a functional fitness workout room, classroom space for yoga and other floor classes, climber training areas, showers, lockers, and a retail space.
Nelms said he and his partners decided to locate in Bentonville after another opportunity arose.
“After being approached to do Bentonville first, we took a hard look at the numbers and it actually made a lot of sense to do it there first,” Nelms said.
Nelms didn’t rule out the possibility of opening a second location in Fayetteville.
“I have always felt that NWA is a two-gym market for us,” Nelms said. “We still have the land and plans siting on standby in Fayetteville. We are going to monitor and see, as it really depends on how well Climb Bentonville does as to when Climb Fayetteville happens.”
If all goes well, Climb Bentonville will open for business in fall 2018.
