A fun obstacle course for kids that debuted last year at the Jones Center will be back for year two.
The second annual Obstacle Runaround is set for Saturday, June 9 on the facility grounds.
The event is designed for kids 5-12 years old, and is intended to be a fun race including a mud run, slip n’ slide, tire run, balance beam walk, and other obstacles.
Last year, nearly 200 kids participated, and organizers say they expect around double that number to run in year two.
“We received tremendous feedback from last year’s event. This year, we’re adding more obstacles and really crafting the course to bring joy to the kids participating,” said Meredith Cupp, Recreation Coordinator.
The race will take place at the Jones Center community park, located off Community Park Drive near the main facility. Check in starts at 8:30 a.m. the morning of the event. Early registration is $25 through June 8, and $30 the day of the event.
The first race starts at 9 a.m. Participants are encouraged to bring a towel and a change of clothes, and to wear something they don’t mind getting a little muddy.
Online registration is open here.
