There’s a big old celebration of gumbo coming up in Fayetteville in a couple weeks.
The fourth annual Fayetteville Gumbo Cookoff is set for Saturday, March 9 at the Washington County Fairgrounds.
Update: Due to inclement weather, this event has been rescheduled, and combined with Ales & Tales for 2-5 p.m. on April 6.
The event will feature several competitors serving up their best version of the classic Louisiana dish, and attendees can sample them all and vote for their favorites in a people’s choice-style competition.
The event will also include live music by ?Block Street Hot Club and Second Line Strings. Local craft brews will also be available to purchase at the event.
The fun starts at noon, and runs until around 4 p.m.
Tickets are $25, and a portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit Ranger’s Pantry, a pet food bank organized by the city of Fayetteville.
