Around here, local company TheatreSquared is well known for putting on some of the most relevant, compelling theatre in the country.
This month, they’ll once again take on a show considered to be among the best modern plays when they perform The Wolves, the 2016 play by Sarah DeLappe.
New York Times called the play “one of the year’s best plays,” that year, and it was a finalist for the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
TheatreSquared’s version is set to open at Nadine Baum Studios this week beginning at at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 27. After that, the show will continue through March 24, with shows scheduled Wednesday-Sunday each week.
The play, set in an indoor soccer facility, tells the story of a girls soccer team from the suburbs as the “team navigates life’s big questions and wages their own tiny battles—with all the “bark and bite” (Vulture.com) of a pack of adolescent warriors.”
Hollywood Reporter called it “A firecracker of a play, spilling over with humor, insight and searing pathos.”
Tickets to the show range from $17-47, on sale now at waltonartscenter.org.
