With Christmas fast approaching, holiday shows and events are filling our calendar this weekend.

There’s the musical version of the holiday classic film A Christmas Story, The Musical playing at Walton Arts Center this weekend. There are several chances to see the show. Here’s a schedule.

Just across the street, another holiday classic tale will unfold on stage at TheatreSquared. The theatre will perform their adaptation of Dickens’ classic, A Christmas Carol, this weekend. Here’s ticket info for that.

There’s good music in town as well. Local folk act Smokey & The Mirror will perform at the Roots HQ inside the Guisinger Music House this weekend. There are two performances scheduled. Ticket info is here.

Also in tunes, there’s a dance party at George’s with The Floozies and Mystic Grizzly. There are also electronic acts at Axis Lounge Friday night with Trippy Hippy, Dondo, Syca, and 3Fay.

Smoke & Barrel Tavern also has a good show Friday night, with locals, Trashcan Bandits along with Big Red Flag.

Saturday, Dec. 14

Speaking of holiday shows, NWA Audio Theatre will perform a version of another classic at Fayetteville Public Library on Saturday. The troupe will perform Miracle on 34th Street in the Walker Room at 2:30 p.m.

If you missed anything that happened on Friday night, you’ll get a second chance for a lot of it this weekend. Smokey & The Mirror will be back at Roots HQ, A Christmas Story is playing again at Walton Arts Center, A Christmas Carol is at T2, and The Floozies and Mystic Grizzly are performing for a second night at George’s Saturday night.

Also in tunes, local country/Americana outfit Statehouse Electric will be at Mojo’s Pints & Pies, and there’s a four-band bill rocks show at Backspace with Acid Carousel, Tennis Club, The Wirms, and Guitar Jar.
