The NWA NAAC this week will donate more than 5,000 reusable masks to schools all over the region, officials announced this week.

The masks, built with multiple layers of cotton fabric with the option of filter inserts, were created by local business Olive Loom, and volunteers associated with Arkansas Arts and Fashion Forum.

“We believe every student has the right to essential protective gear; when you have families in our community who are struggling to pay rent or buy food, who’s to say that they can afford a mask?” said Monique Jones, NAACP President.

The masks will go to students in 15 districts across the region, including Elkins, Gravette, Pea Ridge, Rogers, Fayetteville, Bentonville, Gentry, Decatur, Siloam Springs, Springdale, West Fork, Greenland, Prairie Grove, Farmington, and Lincoln.

In all, the group plans to complete deliveries of more than 5,000 masks to the local schools this week.
