Happy Friday, everyone.
This weekend’s getting an early start, and that’s because the No. 1 ranked Razorback Baseball team is playing today in the NCAA regional tournament at 2 p.m. at Baum-Walker stadium. The Hogs take on the New Jersey Institute of Technology in first round action today. We’re guessing at least some of you will be taking the afternoon off.
A legendary Fayetteville band is playing happy hour on Friday afternoon. The Cate Brothers are getting together for a show at George’s at around 6 p.m. this evening. It’s sold out, so hopefully you’ve already got your tickets. Later on Friday night, Brick Fields will perform. On Saturday, George’s has a country show with Randall King and Jesse Raub Jr.
There are some big shows on the square on Friday and Saturday night, with Tulsa-based songwriter John Moreland set to perform two nights at the Roots HQ on the Avenue series. Last time we looked. Then on Sunday, songwriter Amy Helm (daughter of Levon) is back in town for a performance on that same stage. It looks like there are still tickets available for all three of these shows. Here’s where to get them.
TheatreSquared has two shows playing at the moment, including At The Wedding (here’s more about that), and My Father’s War. My Father’s War was written by TheatreSquared Artistic Director Bob Ford, and is back on stage after debuting about 10 years ago. Here’s ticket info for those shows.
Mount Sequoyah has a few concerts at the gazebo in their cottage circle this weekend, including Alisha Pattillo Quartet on Friday night, Cocktail Club jazz trio will play on Saturday night, and local songwriter Randall Shreve will play Sunday night.
There’s a mini festival happening on Saturday at Prairie Street Live featuring seven female DJ’s. It’s called Her Set Her Sound, and more info on that is here.
Local funk masters 1 Oz Jig are in action on Saturday night in the backyard at Kingfish.
There’s a yoga festival at Botanical Garden of the Ozarks.
That isn’t even half of what’s happening in (and around) Fayetteville this weekend. There’s more below, and feel free to let us know what you’re up to this weekend in the comments. Have fun!
