Happy Friday, friends. No offense, but some of you guys look like you could really use one. (Mike)
Anyway, George’s is kicking things off like they have for the last 100 years with a happy hour show on Friday night. This one features The Bel Airs and The Swade Diablos. Later on, you can check out some good local bands including Moonsong, Olympics, and Key Lines Friday night. On Saturday, locals Cadillac Jackson and The Juice will perform. Ticket info to all the George’s shows is here.
There are some cool street concerts happening in downtown Fayetteville thanks to the folks behind Fayetteville Roots. The venue will host Oklahoma songwriter Parker Millsap on Friday night, fellow Oklahoma songwriter Kalyn Fay on Saturday, and Grammy nominated songwriter Mary Gauthier on Sunday. Here’s a link to my favorite Mary Gauthier song.
There’s a mini hip hop and R&B festival at Prairie Street Live on Saturday. It’s called Faychella, and according to the ticketing site, it will include over 30 performers including local performer/promoter D. Sewell. It starts at 2 p.m. Here’s ticket info.
Also in tunes, Michigan-based trio The Accidentals will perform a free show at The Momentary on Friday night. Looks like this one has been moved inside due to the weather. Here’s a bit more info. Also in Bentonville, Crystal Bridges’ Forest Concert Series continues with Mr. Sipp and Brick Fields on Saturday.
If you’d like to see a musical, there are still some chances to see TheatreSquared’s Matilda at the Fayetteville Public Library.
There are a few comedy options this weekend as well, including local improv group RodeoBookClub at Backspace, and comedians Stephen Taylor and Aaron Naylor at Nomad’s Trailside on Saturday.
