This would have been Bikes, Blues & BBQ weekend in Fayetteville, but this year’s rally was cancelled last month over concerns about the local hospital’s capacity to take care of the increased trauma that typically comes along with the rally. As a result, several local businesses will be without that revenue this weekend. Let’s try to spend some dollars with our favorite local places this weekend.
There are plenty of opportunities to do so. George’s has local favs The Bel Aires, and Jim Goza for happy hour, followed by The Mixtapes later on Friday night. George’s also has a daytime show on Saturday at 2 p.m. with Gary Hutchinson Trio, and Saturday night there’s a Tom Petty Tribute on stage.
TheatreSquared has a new show folks are buzzing about. It’s the opening weekend for their modern take on the TV show Designing Women. Here’s a preview including some ticket info for that.
The Fayetteville Public Library will host the Northwest Arkansas performance of the No Tears Suite on Friday.
Nomad’s Trailside has a comedy show this weekend called Mixed Nuts Comedy Showcase featuring four comedians. It starts at 8:30 p.m. and it’s $5 to get in.
There’s still a chance to check out some bikes this weekend if you’re interested. The second ever Hill City Rumble vintage chopper show is happening in the parking lot near Brainstorm Tattoo on College Ave, featuring dozens of vintage motorcycles, food from Saguaro Southwest Grill, music by Tony Redman and Nick Shoulders, local vendors, and more. Here’s more on that.
Saturday evening’s weather should be great for the Fall Demolition Derby at Parson’s Stadium in Springdale.
The NWA Hispanic Heritage Festival is happening on Sunday on the Fayetteville Square. The event will include arts and crafts, a soccer tournament, a children’s area, parade of nations, dance contests, vendors, and live entertainment. Here’s more.
There are some big shows in Benton County this weekend as well, with 3 Doors Down at the AMP on Friday, RJ Mischo with The Sluyter at the Momentary on Friday, and Shinedown at the AMP on Sunday.
The Hog football team will take on Texas A&M in Dallas on Saturday as well. It’s a 2:30 p.m. kickoff, televised by CBS.
There’s more below. Have a good weekend, everyone.
