Hope you guys washed your party pants this week. It’s gonna be a busy weekend.
There are two shows in the WAC’s Starr Theatre this weekend, with jazz group Jane Bunnett and Maqueque on Friday night, and comedian Raj Suresh on Saturday. Ticket info is here.
Speaking of comedy, SNL vet Jay Pharoah will perform multiple sets at The Grove in Lowell this weekend. You can find showtimes and ticket info here.
George’s has music all weekend as well, with The Nace Brothers kicking things off for happy hour Friday night, followed by a three band bill Friday night with Vintage Pistol, Trymore Mojo and Son of Stan. On Saturday, the venue will host 80s metal tribute Hot Lix. Here’s ticket info for George’s shows.
There’s also music on Mount Sequoyah this weekend. There’s jazz on Friday night in the campus cottage circle with The Darren Novotny Jazz Connection, and on Saturday Fayetteville ex-pat Effron White is back in town for a show. Ticket info is here.
Up in Rogers, there are a few shows at the AMP on the schedule this weekend, including country artist Dierks Bentley on Friday night, and Austin-based bluse/rock/soul act Gary Clark Jr. on Saturday night. If you don’t already have tickets you can find them here.
It’s the last weekend for the TheatreSquared hit Designing Women, and they also have a new show debuting this weekend called Tiny Beautiful Things. Here’s more on those performances.
Nomads Trailside has a cool show on Friday with The Dreaded Laramie, Olympics, and FunkFurMunks.
There’s also a mini music festival at Prairie Street Live on Saturday called Live Free Music and Arts Festival featuring performances by Flipoff Pirates, Rochelle Bradshaw & Hypnotion, Rachel Ammons, and more. It starts at around 1 p.m. and runs into the evening. Here’s more info.
It’s time for some hoops! The Razorback men’s basketball team will kick off their season this weekend with an exhibition on Sunday versus East Central. It’s a 3 p.m. tipoff.
