It’s the last weekend before school starts for FPS kids (and parents), and the UA’s coming back after next weekend. Things are about to get a lot busier around here.
There’s plenty to do this weekend as well.
For one, you can hear punk rock royalty speak in Fayetteville this weekend. Musician, actor, and author Henry Rollins is in town for an appearance at Fayetteville Public Library Friday night. Rollins will participate in a moderated discussion at the library’s new performing arts space at 6 p.m. Here’s more info.
There’s a big Broadway show at Walton Arts Center this weekend. The classic My Fair Lady opened Tuesday, and runs through Sunday this weekend. Here’s a review of the show, and you can get tickets here.
George’s weekend kicks off with a Happy Hour show Friday night featuring locals Full House, followed by another excellent local party band, Funk Factory. On Saturday, the venue will host Hellzapoppin Circus Sideshow (sold out), and Black Joe Lewis will perform Sunday night. Here’s ticket info.
Smoke & Barrel Tavern has music on Friday night with local rockers Gardensnakes and Heather, and there’s a local show Saturday with Temptress, Moonsong, and The Salesman.
Kingfish has a couple shows this weekend as well, with Cole Birmingham Band on Friday night and Ley Lines and Green Acres on Saturday.
Up north, there’s a cool show at The Momentary with CARM, the project by multi-instrumentalist CJ Camerieri on Friday night. His 2021 debut album includes appearances Sufjan Stevens, Justin Vernon, and Yo La Tengo’s Georgia Hubley and Ira Kaplan. Check it out here.
You could also play a little putt putt for a good cause Saturday. Foghorns will host their annual Putt for Paws benefit for the Humane Society of the Ozarks at the restaurant and at Locomotion Family Fun Park Saturday morning. Here’s more info.
