Art Feeds to host ‘Move for 38’ fundraiser

A local organization is hosting a fundraiser this month to support its therapeutic art programs for kids.

Art Feeds is asking locals to ‘move for 38’ minutes of exercise during the week of April 20-27, and each participant that signs up for the fundraiser will provide a year’s worth of Art Feeds programming for a local child with their registration fee.

From the announcement:

The world is currently facing a severe mental health crisis among children and adolescents, with limited resources to address their needs. The average student to school counselor ratio in the United States is far above the recommended level at 1 counselor to every 450 students. According to recent students released by the CDC, suicidal ideation and suicide attempts increased significantly and emergency visits related to mental health have risen drastically. To combat this crisis, a multi-faceted approach that involves public health, mental health, schools, families, and community organizations is necessary.

Those who sign up will pay a $38 registration fee, and commit to walk, swim, run, row, etc. for 38 minutes at some point during the week of April 20-27. In Fayetteville, local gym Clubhaus Fitness and local coffee shop and bar Puritan will host events for those who’d like to complete their exercise for the fundraiser in a group.

Participants can also support the cause by creating a personal fundraising page or a team fundraising page to encourage friends or family to donate $1 for every minute of movement.

Registration for the fundraiser is open now, and runs through April 7.
