Local residents will get an opportunity to meet the individual recently hired to lead the Fayetteville Public School system this month.

School district officials this week announced plans to host a meet and greet with incoming superintendent John Mulford from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, April 24 at Fayetteville Public Library.

The school board last month voted unanimously to offer the position to Mulford, who currently serves as the deputy superintendent of operations for Springfield (Missouri) Public Schools.

Mulford is set to take over for superintendent John Colbert, who is set to retire on July 1 this summer.

“I am humbled and honored to serve as the next superintendent for Fayetteville Public Schools,” Mulford said when he was hired last month. “During my interview with the Board of Education, I was inspired by their collective commitment to excellence while prioritizing the uniqueness of each individual. My wife and I are excited to become part of the Fayetteville community and look forward to the great things we will accomplish together. Go Bulldogs!”

The meet and greet will take place in the library’s new event center / performance area. It is free to attend and open to the public.
