We take back everything we said about other weekends being too busy. This one has overtaken that crown. It’s bonkers. We don’t even know where to start.
Guess we should start with the fact that The Roots are in town for a show at The Momentary on Saturday night with KOKOKO. They’re considered one of the top 20 live bands in the world. Solid start, right? The Roots? Just, here, hanging out, playing a show? Here’s more info including how to get tickets.
Actor Tyler James Williams will speak at Fayetteville Town Center on Thursday night as part of the UA’s Distinguished Lecture Series. Here’s more about that.
Also on Thursday night, there’s a big show at Smoke & Barrel Tavern with rockers Cola (ex Ought), along with OrOrOr. Smoke & Barrel has some other cool shows this weekend as well, including a three band bill on Friday with Mildenhall, TownHouseFire, and Tao of Lucy, and another local show on Saturday with Claw Marks American, The Salesman, and Holy Smokes. That’s a lot of rock.
George’s has at least two sold out shows this weekend. Up-and-coming Nashville star Megan Moroney has sold out the bar for Thursday night, and indie act Snail Mail has a sold out show on Friday night. Earl & Them are playing happy hour on Friday as well, and you can still get into that one (for now). Here’s ticket info for George’s shows.
Blues-country-rocker Paul Thorn is back in town for a show this weekend as well. He’ll play the Walton Arts Center on Friday night. You can also see the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas in action this weekend as they play their final show of the season on Saturday night. Here’s more about that.
Also in cool tunes, Austin-based folk-rock act Shakey Graves will play at JJ’s Live on Sunday (tickets), there’s a Trillium Salon Series show at Likewise with ambient music by Lake Mary and Chaz Knapp on Saturday night.
It’s also a home baseball series, as the Diamond Hogs take on the Aggies of Texas A&M Thursday-Saturday, Modus Studio is bringing back their Pecha Kucha speaker series with some really cool speakers on Friday, TheatreSquared has a new comedy with Chicken & Biscuits that folks are raving about, the city has a new monthly outdoor festival in the Ramble, there are trail rides, a Pup Crawl, a Demolition Derby, and that’s not even half of it.
If you dare, look at the list below for even more.
Have a damn weekend, Fayetteville. Wowza.
