Free fishing this weekend at Lake Fayetteville

(Jeff Rose)

FAYETTEVILLE – The city will host its annual free fishing weekend at Lake Fayetteville from sunrise Friday, June 9, through sunset Sunday, June 11.

The event coincides with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s statewide free fishing weekend, and is one of two annual free fishing weekends offered in Fayetteville to promote and encourage use of Lake Fayetteville.

Daily fishing and use fees are waived on those days, but a boating permit is still required.

Lake Fayetteville fish include Crappie, Bass, Blue Gill, Red Ear, Catfish, Goggle-eye, and Carp.

Note that the Lake Fayetteville marina parking lot will be closed Saturday, June 10, from sunrise to 11 a.m. for the Ladies DU Fayetteville duathlon.

Residents can always fish for free at either Lake Wilson and Lake Sequoyah daily from sunrise to sunset.

For more information about the free fishing weekend or boating and fishing permits, call the Lake Fayetteville marina at 479-444-3476 or visit fayetteville-ar.gov/3548/Boating-and-Fishing
