A new street festival featuring local brews, music, artists, crafters, food trucks, a dog pageant, and more will make its debut in Fayetteville this weekend.
The event, called Falltoberfest, is being organized by Kelly Rich of the new downtown association Downtown Fayetteville Coalition with some help from local business owner and Block Street Block Party organizer Hannah Withers, and is set for 12-6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 1 on Dickson Street.
The event will include performances by 11 local bands on three stages, local brews from 13 local breweries, more than 120 arts, crafts, local business, food, drink, and non-profit vendors, a Mr. Oktoberfest pageant, a Dogtoberfest dog pageant, stein hoisting, a brat cookoff, and more.
Mainstage events kick off at noon, with a Dogtoberfest dog pageant featuring about 40 local pooches competing in a variety of categories. After that, locals Funk Factory will perform, followed by touring acts Really Bad People and Flowtribe.
George’s will host an outdoor stage as well in the lot next to the building, with performers kicking off with C4 Quartet at 12:15 p.m., followed by Patti Steel Band, Leah & The Mojo Doctors, The Crumbs, and the Phlegms.
The Kingfish Stage will also kick off at noon, and will include performances by Cosmic Alchemy, Baang, and the Juice, before closing out the night with a Mr. Oktoberfest Pageant (Entries are still open for this contest, by the way).
In addition to the performances, the street will be lined with all types of vendors, from members of the NWA Makers selling their wares, the Fayetteville Public Schools culinary program offering caramel apples, house-made pretzels by Little Bread Company, a mobile ceramic wheel, skaters from Natural State Roller Derby, Cheap Thrills will be on hand with vintage and Halloween costumes, First National Bank will host a ‘spirit free’ cocktail competition, and more.
Breweries confirmed for the event include Bentonville Brewing, Ozark Beer Co, Rendezvous Junction, Lost 40, Point Remove, Flyway, Gotahold, New Province, The Ouachitas, Natural State Beer, Fossill Cove, Fayetteville Beer Works, and Gravity Brew Works.
Local business on the street will also get into the act. Bordinos will be open for Sunday brunch for the first time since the pandemic, for example, Brewsky’s will host a brat cook out, Nomad’s will host a drag brunch with Ella Rosa and Taylor Madison Monroe, Farrell’s Lounge will be serving a German food menu, Theo’s will have their smoker and food truck on hand, and more.
