A new cocktail bar by the folks behind Feed and Folly and City Park will open soon on the Fayetteville square.
The new bar, called ‘The Guisinger,’ is in the works at 1 E. Mountain St., in the building known locally as the Guisinger Music Building on the southeast corner of the square. The project is the creation of locals Lewis Chase, Matthew Sutton, and Michael Sutton of the above local restaurants in partnership with building owner Sterling Hamilton.
The bar will focus on classic cocktails, from martinis, negronis, old fashioneds, and others, and an extensive wine selection, Chase told us this week.
The decor of the bar will pay homage to the history of the building, Chase said. The building was a music store for decades from 1925-1987, a tin shop and hardware store before that, and was most recently home to the Fayetteville Roots HQ.
The business will also take advantage of the interior balcony areas for unique seating, as well as some of the enclosed spaces around the building to create intimate private seating spaces they are calling ‘snugs.’
The hope, Chase said, was to create a spot for folks visiting the square for dinner to have a spot for a drink and a snack beforehand, or a nice dessert and a beverage afterwards.
The bar will also serve a rotating menu of appetizers and desserts for patrons to snack on, including some “adventurous bites,” Chase said, along with some more standard bar snacks, oysters, and more.
Renovations of the space are underway and moving along nicely, Chase said. If all goes well, the new bar could open sometime in February of 2024.
