Smokehouse Players to perform ‘Last of the Red Hot Lovers’ June 6-8

Fayetteville-based company The Smokehouse Players will perform a new show next month

The small company that got started a few years ago performing shows in the old Ozark Mountain Smokehouse building at 1725 Smoke House Trail will return with a performance of Neil Simon’s comedy “Last of the Red Hot Lovers” June 6-8 at Ozark Mountain Smokehouse.

From the description of the show:

“Last of the Red Hot Lovers” is the chaotic tale of a married seafood restauranteur who tries to catch the last wave of the sexual revolution by attempting to seduce three different women in his mother’s apartment, with hilarious but disastrous results. Directed by Warren Rosenaur, this Tony-nominated comedy confronts the angst of aging and asks the question, “Is the grass really greener on the other side?

The new show stars local players Tim Gilster, Amy Jones, Juliette Robinson, and Terry Vaughan.

Tickets to the show are free, though donations will be accepted. All donations received at the Thursday, June 6 performance benefit Magdalene Serenity House, a local organization that helps to “rebuild the lives of women who have experienced trauma, addiction, and incarceration.” Officials said there are 7 matching donors on board to help in the fundraising efforts.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Wine and chips will be available for sale before the show.
