Pride Month art show, poetry reading coming to Fenix Arts

Fenix Arts will host a new art show, a poetry reading, workshops, and other events in honor of Pride Month in June.

The gallery will host an exhibition featuring visual art about queer stories and histories called “TRANSFIGURE” curated by artist Amber Imrrie beginning June 6 and and running through July 14.

An opening reception for the show is set for 5:30 p.m. on Friday, June 7 featuring a performance by artist Sandrine Schaefer and music by Lauren Leonard.

Several events associated with the show will take place throughout the month after that.

On Saturday, June 8, the gallery will host an artist talk featuring Sophia Nourani at 7 p.m.

A poetry reading curated by local writing community Bee Balm Arkansas featuring Tulsa poet Crystal Stone and others is set for 7 p.m. on Friday, June 14, and an Águila Book Talk with Maria Cristina Moroles will take place at 2 p.m. on June 15.

In addition, curator Amber Imrie will host a workshop called Translate at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 23.

The show is supported by the Arkansas Arts Council, The National Alliance on Mental Health, and Fenix Arts.
