City offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day.

Despite the closure, both residential and commercial recycling and trash pick up routes will run on their regular schedule. The city’s transfer station, compost site and household hazardous waste trailer will be closed on Thursday, however.

City officials earlier this month posted a reminder of the rules regarding setting off fireworks inside the city limits, including some safety tips for those putting on their own displays.

The public may use fireworks inside Fayetteville city limits only on July 1-3 from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m., and on July 4 from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. Fireworks may not be discharge inside the city at any other date or time, officials said.
