Local jazz guitarist Asher Perkins and friends will play the city’s upcoming Weekend Starts in the Ramble series show on Friday evening.

Perkins will perform with his group, Asher & Coat the event, set for 5-7 p.m. along the trail in the Lower Ramble area, located just to the west of Fayetteville Public Library.

In addition to the music, local artist Holly Neely will lead a pet-portrait workshop activity, officials said.

For those who aren’t familiar, the Weekend Starts series, organized through a partnership with the University of Arkansas Department of Music, will include a lineup of local musicians from jazz trios, Brazilian and Afro-Cuban music, Ozark ballads, classical ensembles, rock songs, medieval music and more on Friday nights through October.

Nearby parking is available at the library.

The series is free and open to the public, and all ages are welcome. The events may be cancelled in the event of inclement weather.
