Take a step into Jewel’s healing, meditative, magical art experience, The Portal: An Art Experience by Jewel, at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art this summer. Presented as a collaboration between Jewel and Crystal Bridges, The Portal melds art, technology, mental health, and wellness. The experience can only be seen at the museum until July 28, 2024.

Four-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter and mental health pioneer Jewel debuted her inaugural museum venture at Crystal Bridges this spring. Featuring a 200-piece drone light show over Crystal Bridges’ pond, choreographed by Jewel and set to an original score by the artist, The Portal also includes original artwork by Jewel.

A cutting-edge seven-foot holographic artwork of Jewel welcomes visitors to the experience. The Portal begins with a reflective, meditative art walk through the museum’s contemporary wing, showcasing Jewel’s curated selection of ten artworks from Crystal Bridges’ collection, in addition to two original artworks by Jewel: a portrait of her son and a striking sculpture. The experience culminates with the aerial drone show.

Jewel has meticulously crafted each aspect of the experience to harmonize what she calls the Three Spheres — the inner world, outer world, and the unseen world — to create a dynamic space where inner thoughts, external actions, and hidden emotions converge. Innovative, transformative, and just plain fun, The Portal promises a moving, restorative experience unlike any other at Crystal Bridges.

Due to popular demand, Crystal Bridges recently added more viewings of The Portal. The experiencenow runs most Wednesdays through Sundays and closes on July 28, 2024. Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for kids 11-18, and free for kids 10 and under. Tickets for members are $20 for adults, $12 for kids 11-18, and free for kids 10 and under. A cash bar and culinary add-ons are available. To select dates and purchase a ticket, please visit crystalbridges.org.
