Weekend: June 5, 6, 7

Fayetteville is kind of a weird place this weekeend.

First, there are about a zillion randos in from all over the world for the Walmart Shareholders meeting. Those randos also include rando celebrities like Chad the Alltel guy, Ben Stiller, Hannah Montana (or Miley Cyrus, whatever you want to call her), Michael Jordan, American Idol Kris Allen, and probably several more that we just haven’t heard about yet. Seen any rando celebrities around town?

Then, there another zillion music lovers, hippies, jam bands, and camping enthusiasts hanging out about 45 minutes south-east of here at the Wakarusa Music festival.

Combine those two things, and the rando factor in Fayetteville is at an all time high (about two zillion).

Luckily, there’s plenty going on in town for them to do. Hang out with them.

Tonight, George’s has Big Uns for happy hour, and later Matt Jones will be playing some old Mo-town tunes as part of his Soul Review.

The Art of Wine is happening at the Walton Art Center, and tonight’s the night for the Grand Tasting, which sounds pretty delicious. Mmm. Wine.

Church, Ocean Floor, and TIMBER! will be at the Smoke and Barrel, playing their music.

Tomorrow’s gonna be a good day. First, go to the Farmer’s Market (duh), then there’s a Wine Lovers Brunch at the WAC, then, there’s music at Smiling Jack’s for most of the day with Wally & Friends from Noon-3pm, and the Ryan Fourt Trio from 6pm-9pm.

After that, we’re really excited about the show at Smoke and Barrel, with the American Princes returning to town, Color Club making their Smoke and Barrel debut, a band we’ve heard great things about from Texas New Science Project, and Fayetteville’s own Jacob Enwood.

Also on Saturday, there is a Roller Derby match – to the death. It’s called Hustle ‘N Flow, and the NWA Rollergirls are taking on the Kansas City Roller Warriors.

And finally, yes, there is a Monster Truck race at Parson’s stadium this weekend. Consider yourself told.
