Although your 2008 Washington County tax statement has a due date of Oct. 10, the pay-in-person deadline has been extended to Tuesday Oct. 13 because the original marked date falls on a Saturday.
According to the tax collector’s office, when the normal due date is on a weekend, the deadline is moved to the first following workday. However, since Monday, Oct. 12 is Columbus Day, the deadline has been extended an extra day. If you plan to mail your payment, the collections staff asks that you still have a postmarked date of Oct. 10.
Tax drop box
For those planning to pay in person, keep in mind that the parking deck at the Washington County Courthouse is currently closed for construction. To compensate, there is a drop box at the north end of the parking lot on Dickson Street.
If you’d prefer not to find a parking spot nearby and walk, Ozark Regional Transit is currently providing shuttle service (Route 57) for the public to and from the Central United Methodist Church parking deck and the Courthouse. Shuttle hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:10am to 5pm. The bus runs a continuous shuttle every 10 minutes but the driver will be on break between 10:20-10:30am and 2:20-2:30pm.
