Wednesday To-do: Sept. 15

About 11 percent of the Flyer’s referrals comes from Twitter. That’s a decent number, but Facebook holds the crown in that department with a whopping 40 percent of referring traffic.

Still, Twitter’s nothing to write off. That’s even more evident by the fact that it unveiled a complete site redesign last night that will be rolled out to every user over the next few weeks. Maybe you’re one of the few that’s already playing around with the new interface?

With an optimized and more organized site, a sleek new logo, and the addition of embedded photos and videos, the Twitter desktop client might just start to give Facebook a run for its money.

As an online publication, we’re frothing at the keyboard to take advantage of all the cool opportunities we think this presents. We hadn’t written Twitter off before, and we sure as heck aren’t going to start now.

Today

There’s a big show at George’s tonight. Baton Rouge’s the Benjy Davis Project bring their rootsy rock to town with Memphis-based Ingram Hill. Davis and crew are in the middle of a Southeastern Conference tour that’s taking them through every SEC college town but Knoxville. Who likes the University of Tennessee anyway?

Also tonight is a volunteer meeting at the Fayetteville Public Library for anyone interesting in donating some time to the Offshoot Film Fest. Sound like fun? Head to the Walker Room inside the library at 6 p.m.

If you’re into virtual bowling, Smoke & Barrel is hosting another Wii bowling league night. Be careful, folks. Don’t drink and Wii. Wait…

There’s more, too, including DJ Spiff and DJ Bailey at FIX, Rollo Tumasi and Truck Stop Hookers at Rogue, and Mo Brothers at JJ’s.
