Tuesday To-do: Sept. 21

We interrupt our regularly scheduled program to bring you the following special bulletin.

Today is school election day and that means one of two things: 1) You’re going to take a few minutes out of your day today and go vote, or 2) you’re gonna bail on this one because you would rather stay at work all day with no break.

Obviously, there’s room for a third and maybe even a fourth option, but I think it’s safe to say most of us are ones or twos here.

If you’re already planning on voting, good for you. If you’re on the fence, here is a post about the millage election and here is a post on where to vote.

Back to the news

We usually post a few interesting non-Fayetteville news tidbits here on Tuesdays. Here’s a scaled down version: The BP well is dead, Facebook is not building a phone, and Walmart is about to take on NYC.

Today

Aside from voting at some point today, there are a few other options for fun on our calendar.

As always on Tuesday, jazz fans should consider Teatro Scarpino’s Jazz Night at 8 p.m. There’s food, there’s a bar, and of course, there’s jazz. Loads of excellent local musicians are always there including Nathan McLeod on sax, Drew Packard on guitar, and Clare Starr on bass. It costs $5 to get in and it’s basically an open jam after the first set. Wanna step in? Go for it.

If you’d rather drink, there’s a lot of options around town, but the Walton Arts Center is hosting a formal tequila tasting tonight at 6 p.m. It’s the kickoff for the 11th Annual Art of Wine Festival and will feature tequilas from Mr. Don Julio and Jose Cuervo. Ever heard of ’em? Ticket info is here.

Finally, there’s there’s a big show at Drifter’s, Jed Clampit is at Pesto Cafe, and Jeff Fox is at JJ’s.
