Heavy rains over the last few weeks won’t delay the opening of Osage Creek Amphitheater, officials told us last week at a media meet-and-greet on the venue grounds.

“We thought they’d cause us to lose a week, but that wasn’t the case,” said Lea Ann Gisler, one of the hosts of the media event. “We may have lost a couple days.”

“Don’t worry,” she said. “We’re still on track for Willie.”

Willie Nelson’s Country Throwdown, featuring Nelson, Jamey Johnson, Randy Houser, Lee Brice, Brantley Gilbert, Craig Campbell, and Lucas Nelson & The Promise of Real, is scheduled for July 3 at the new venue.

The media event was intended to show off some of the progress on the construction, and things certainly looked a lot different than our first visit to the site back in December.

The concrete for the stage has been poured, and the “bowl” of the amphitheater has taken shape. Gisler also told us that the stage covering was set to begin construction this week.

Below are a few photos we snapped at the construction site on April 28. There’s also a panorama view from the stage available here.
