Over 260 kids of all ages wait to jump into the Wilson Park swimming pool after breaking the world record for the largest swim lesson in June 2010. The City Council will consider authorizing surface repairs for the 80-year-old pool at tonight’s meeting.

The Fayetteville City Council will consider renovation plans for the 80-year-old Wilson Park Pool during this week’s regular council meeting.

Fayetteville police yesterday announced they’ll have an increase presence on the city’s trail system. Officers will patrol the trails on foot, on bicycles, on ATVs and on motorcycles.

The Fayetteville High School boys basketball team will face Little Rock Hall in the state finals at 7 p.m. Friday, March 9 at Summit Arena in Hot Springs. Live audio will be broadcast for those who can’t make it.

In other news, Walton Arts Center announced the 2012-13 Broadway series, UARK Bowl added a second Carlos Mencia show this weekend, and Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel will speak at the Walton Arts Center this week.

The Devil Makes Three

Country/bluegrass/punk band The Devil Makes Three is in town tonight for a show at George’s Majestic Lounge.

The Santa Cruz, Calif.-based trio, who recently finished a tour opening for Celtic punk rockers Flogging Molly, will soon hit the festival circuit including Bonnaroo, Delfest, and our area’s own Wakarusa.

Also tonight, songwriter Marshall Mitchell plays the latest installment of the Music on the Mountain Series at Mount Sequoyah Retreat and Conference Center. Admission is $5 and the show starts at 7 p.m.
