2010 book sale
Vandergriff Elementary School students are seeking used book donations for the annual Charlie Brown Used Book Sale.
This year’s sale begins May 17, but book donations are being accepted now and can be dropped off at Vandergriff Elementary, 2975 E. Township St., and at the Fayetteville Animal Shelter, 1640 S. Armstrong Ave.
Each year the students of Vandergriff Elementary collect used books of all types under the direction of teacher Sherri Wheeler, with the purpose of helping the Fayetteville Animal Shelter and improving literacy for all ages.
Named in honor of Charlie Brown, a beloved chocolate lab adopted from the shelter many years ago by Ms. Wheeler, the event secured 13,000 donated books and raised $4,505 for the shelter in 2011.
The books are sold for 50 cents for paperbacks and $1 for hardbacks.
