Friday Events, June 21

Daikaiju

First of all, let me say that this weekend is shaping up to be one of the best for music we’ve seen in a long time. And it starts at happy hour, with the legendary Cate Brothers in the garden at George’s Majestic Lounge at 6 p.m. Locals Oreo Blue are also on the bill, performing in the lounge at 7 p.m. Admission is $5.

Also on Friday night, the incredible, masked surf-ninja band Daikaiju will return for a show at Smoke & Barrel Friday night. Smoke & Barrel co-owner Evan McDonald called their last performance one of the best the venue has ever seen. Admission is $5 at the door.

The Artosphere Festival Orchestra will be performing “An Evening with Beethoven” Friday night at Walton Arts Center. It looks like this one’s sold out, though, so hopefully you’ve already to your tickets.

For laughs, UARK Bowl has comedian Tim Northern. Admission is $7, and the show starts at 8 p.m.

For kids, there’s another Dive In Movie at Wilson Park Pool Friday night with Little Rascals. Dive In Movies are free to attend, and the show starts at sunset.

The band, recently re-formed by founder and guitarist Greg Ginn, vocalist Ron Reyes, bassist Dave Klein, and drummer Gregory Moore, will perform along with Ginn’s other project Good For You. Tickets are $25 ($29.45 w/ fees).

Locals Damn Arkansan will celebrate the release of their new album Save Yourself Saturday night at Smoke & Barrel Tavern. We talked to the band about the show and the new album earlier this week. Admission is $5 at the door, and you can get a copy of the new EP for $10.
