Police are investigating reports of vandalism inside a building under construction at Fayetteville High School.

Nabholz Construction crews discovered a substance Monday morning that had been sprayed on carpet recently installed in the 2,200-square-foot lecture hall located on the first floor of the building.

Early reports suggested the substance was carpet glue, but it was later confirmed to be foam insulation spray which hardens as it dries.

The cost to replace the carpet will be covered by construction insurance. No arrests have been made.

The building, part of a $96 million renovation project, also includes classrooms, labs and a library.
