Steve Kimmock

There’s a big poetry festival happening in town at the Fayetteville Underground this weekend. Typo Fest, a celebration of ten years of the online journal, typomag.com, will include two days of readings and talks with poets Guiellermo Parra, Adam Clay, Anne Boyer, Sandra Simmons, and several others. Friday’s event features a talk on Venezuelan Poetry from 1921-2001 by Parra. More info about the festival, including the full lineup up readings is available via the Facebook page for the event.

Critically acclaimed improvisational guitarist Steve Kimmock will be at George’s for both Friday and Saturday night this weekend. Kimmock is a legend of the jam scene, having played with members of the Grateful Dead, Phish, The Allman Brothers, Bruce Hornsby, and more. Jerry Garcia called him his favorite guitarist. Tickets are $20 both nights.

Locals Shawn James & The Shapeshifters are back in town after a recent East Coast tour for a show at Smoke & Barrel with Austin rock band, Not in the Face.

Irving Berlin’s White Christmas is at the Walton Arts Center all weekend, though last we heard it was very nearly sold out. If any tickets are available, here’s where to get them.

The Lightbulb Club has a show with local electronic band Monterheart and Little Rockers May The Peace of the Sea Be With You, and locals Dead Indian are at The Phoenix with guitar rockers, The Black Moods.
