The softball complex at Lake Fayetteville was closed this week to make way for some improvements over the fall and winter.

The Lake Fayetteville complex, including the fields, restroom, and playground area, were closed on June 27, and will remain closed until next spring while construction is underway.

The project will include stormwater drainage improvements, new artificial turf, fencing, backstops, dugouts, bleachers, lighting, and other amenities.

“Lake Fayetteville has a long history of serving the community as a softball facility for league and tournament play,” said Byron Humphry, parks operations director. “To meet the needs of our growing community, these upgrades will bring new life to an aging facility to accommodate both youth and adult softball for years to come.”

The project will be paid for by funding from the 2019 Park Improvement Bond approved by Fayetteville residents.
