Nick Mancini Collective coming to Fayetteville Aug. 26

A jazz performance has been added to the summer lineup at Walton Arts Center.

Officials this week announced that Nick Mancini Collective featuring John Daversa are coming to town for a performance at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6 in the Starr Theatre.

The show is being presented by Northwest Arkansas Jazz Society, KUAF and Walton Arts Center.

Vibraphonist and composer Nick Mancini leads this musically compelling collective with multi-Grammy®-winning John Daversa on trumpet, pianist Peter Schlamb, Ryan McGillicuddy on bass and Steven Pruitt on drums. Mancini has performed and recorded with such diverse luminaries as Arturo Sandoval, Peter Erskine, Poncho Sanchez, Kenny Werner and with the greatest young and emerging stars such as Kamasi Washington, Miguel Atwood-Fergusson and Ben Wendel.  

Trumpeter, composer and bandleader Daversa has performed with a variety of artists including Burt Bacharach, the Yellowjackets, Dr. Dre and Michael Buble. Daversa’s celebrated career has included appearances on “The Today Show,” “Late Night with David Letterman,” “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” as well as recordings with such notable artists as Herbie Hancock, Fiona Apple, Sheryl Crow, Andraé Crouch and The Yellowjackets and played on various television and films soundtracks including “King of Queens.”
