The Washington County Historical Society has announced the date for its 2023 ice cream social in Fayetteville.

The 51st annual event is scheduled from 3-6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19 on the lawn of Headquarters House Museum at 118 E. Dickson St.

The event is the primary annual fundraiser for the nonprofit organization that preserves and celebrates the history of Washington County.

This year’s social features live music by Jumpsuit Jamey and the Can’t Wait to Play Boys, along with a photo booth for souvenir photos in period costume, and refreshments like ice cream, cookies, cakes, lemonade and water.

Visitors can also tour the historic gardens and the museum.

Tickets are $5 for adults, $2.50 for children ages 6-12, and $15 for families. Tickets are available online at washcohistoricalsociety.org or at the gate the day of the event.

The annual event was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but returned in 2022.
