FAYETTEVILLE — City officials are inviting residents to attend a public planning meeting to discuss and review the final draft master plan for Underwood Park.

The meeting is scheduled from 6:15-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at Holcomb Elementary School’s cafeteria, located at 2900 N. Salem Rd.

For those who cannot attend in person, residents have the option to review and provide feedback on the master plan through the city’s online public engagement portal, available from Sept. 27 through Oct. 11.

Those attending the meeting can view printed copies of the plan, information boards, and renderings from various park perspectives.

The final draft plan has been shaped by input received during two prior public meetings and online questionnaires. Officials developed three conceptual schemes for the park with a range of development options. Using feedback from the previous meetings, a final draft was produced.

At this point, the feedback needed involves prioritizing which amenities should be included in the first phase of development, which is expected to begin in late 2024.

Underwood Park is located in west Fayetteville on the site of the former Razorback Golf Course property on Dean Solomon Road.

The park includes 38 acres donated by the Underwood family, and another 20 acres of no-cost leased land consisting of cart paths left over from the golf course. Additional land to the south will be dedicated in order to meet the city’s park land dedication requirement. Once complete, the park will include just over 65 acres.
