Fayetteville-based company The Smokehouse Players will perform a new show this week.

The small company that got started a few years ago performing shows in the old Ozark Mountain Smokehouse building at 1725 Smoke House Trail will return with a performance of Jon Robin Baitz’ play Other Desert Cities at the Smokehouse Nov. 9-11.

From the description of the show:

Treacherous secrets that threaten to destroy a powerful family are revealed in “Other Desert Cities” by Jon Robin Baitz, forcing them to choose between building bridges or burning them down. Directed by Billy Chase Goforth, this raw and intriguing Pulitzer-nominated play challenges the unshakable love parents have for their children, no matter the circumstances

The new show stars local players Amy Eversole, Tim Gilster, Sam Ownbey, Juliette Robinson, and Terry Vaughan.

Tickets to the show are free, though donations will be accepted. All donations received at the Thursday, Nov. 9 performance will benefit Magdalene Serenity House, a local organization that helps to “rebuild the lives of women who have experienced trauma, addiction, and incarceration.” Officials said there are 11 matching donors on board to help in the fundraising efforts. Last year, they raised more than $29,000 for the organization.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Wine and chips will be available for sale before the show.
